Anyone else think its hilarious that Deep Impact and Armageddon both came out in 1998 and have pretty much the same story? Asteroid heads towards earth. Government tries to keep it under wraps while they do something about it. Space mission to destroy asteroid with nukes goes up. Mission suffers Massive Failure Earth panics. Astronauts have a Do it for all mankind moment. Asteroid destroyed, earth celebrates. The only difference between the two was a side story about a reporter(Deep Impact) and a Kick Ass rock and roll soundtrack (Armageddon) Both movies have their timeless actors, Bruce Willis in Armageddon and Morgan Freeman in Deep Impact and both feature WAY more explosions than are necessary.
