Anyone fancy a post-doc in Brazil? Postdoctoral position on the Laboratory of Phycology at Federal University of São Carlos, SP, Brazil FAPESP agency. The Laboratory of Phycology of the Federal University of São Carlos with the support of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) on a Thematic Project is selecting one researcher for a post-doctorate fellowship. The selected researcher will integrate a group of the thematic project “Biodiversity of freshwater microalgae: germplasm bank and obtaining of molecular markers for cryopreserved species” financed by FAPESP. The postdoctoral researcher will develop the subproject “Obtaining molecular markers for identification (DNA-Barcoding) of freshwater microalgae”, with emphasis on the Class Chlorophyceae, which has important dominance in freshwaters. Besides the experience with molecular biology techniques, the candidate must have knowledge and experience to obtain and maintain axenic algal cultures and master techniques for quantifying algal growth. It is also important, but not essential, the knowledge about (traditional) chlorophycean taxonomy. This subproject will be developed in interaction with other subprojects related to chemotaxonomy, analysis of digital images and traditional taxonomy, which implies on a multidisciplinary interaction when publishing the data
