Anyone seen any good trailers lately? Okay so I just returned from my third screening of Interstellar, this time I saw it on IMAX... but of course, it was that Episode VII trailer that got me into the theater again - and the chance to take my dad to his first IMAX movie. But personally, I just needed to see that trailer on the big screen for the first time, not my TV screen. A quick analysis: 1. I like that the film feels like it was shot on sets and in real environments, and not against backdrops of Green Screens. 2. I like that they didnt even attempt to explain the plot. 3. I loved seeing the ships, and dont care why these ships are still in use, explain it later or not at all, I dont care, I just want to see the ships I like. 4. Incredible music that feels like a combination of both JJ Abrams and George Lucas styles. It blends nicely. 5. Loved seeing the new faces in context to their situations. Boyega disguised as a Storm Trooper? Daisy living on Tatooine? Isaac piloting an X-Wing. Hard to guess who is in the cloak but Driver most likely. 6. Sure, I wanted to see the familiar faces, but genius of Abrams to hold back... thats the trailer that will be in front of Age of Ultron. 7. At the end of the day, it definitely has me excited. 8. My reservation is the CG. Its still there. Still feels perqually at times. But the environments will hopefully overcome all that. 9. The ominous voiceover was pitch perfect. 10. My least favorite shot was the droid on the soccer ball. An odd one to include if you are trying to disassociate yourself from the prequals.
