Anyone travelling to Cuba, Dominican republic or Haiti backpacking or business? You need to be aware that Cholera is on the rise dramatically in these countries. Cases of cholera continue to be reported. This update reports on a number of recent verified cholera outbreaks. The risk of cholera in travellers to the Cuba, Dominican Republic and Haiti is low. Nevertheless, all travellers should practice strict personal, food and water hygiene precautions. Cholera vaccine is not routinely recommended for travellers, but may be considered for those at higher risk, such as humanitarian aid workers and those who will have limited access to safe drinking water and medical care, in areas where cholera outbreaks are occurring.
