Soooooo, this afternoon (after the 30 minute process it took to deposit a check from the UK into my business account at WellsFargo ), I was talked over and shouted down by one of the women behind the counter, when I asked a simple question: When I deposit a check (at my local Wells Fargo branch where I have an account), and: 1. the check is in my name, and 2. I showed my ID with my face and my name to the teller, and 3. I already typed in my 4-digit PIN, what reason could there possibly be that I have to sign that back of the check? What does this prove or do? A real and realistic answer would be great. I honestly believe this is a ridiculous throwback to a pre-digital era, and no one has had the common sense to remove this superfluous gesture. And yes, I would love to tilt at this windmill and bring it down. Single-handedly.
