Anyone who has played flight simulator games over the years will recognise this scenario. Ive done it, youve done, we all did it loads of time while we were learning. Once upon a time the vast majority of air disasters involved multiple factors and there were major lessons to learn about how crews interacted in the cockpit. These days they almost invariably rubbish incompetent flying - like mine. The supposed lesson being learned from this stuff is a) Boeing should not make it possible to idle the throttles leaving everything else engaged and b) there is an inherent danger in having enough electronics to let the pilots lose concentration. I disagree. I think they should spend much more time on cheap PC (not expensive ultra realistic) simulators with another pilot making deliberate screw ups until they recognise the situations immediately. Nobody paid to fly with hundreds of people on board and a multi-million pound aircraft at the end of the stick should ever be this useless. Its also notable that the junior pilot did see trouble coming but did not like to correct the boss. This is a persistent problem with aircrew from deferential nations and they really, really need to train it out. telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/transport/10924617/Animation-shows-how-Asiana-Flight-214-crashed.html
