Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates - TopicsExpress

Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Sounds like a mandate for self-abasement and rejection in lieu of being sent off to hell, huh? A little correction is needed here for those who struggle with their perception of Gods perception of them and who cannot figure out how to love their self and reject/hate their self at the same time. In the Greek, that verse actually says, whoever loves his SOUL shall be *destroying* it (apollumi) and whoever hates his SOUL in this system shall be guarding it into eonian life. (scripture4all.org). The soul in this case is the ego, or the False Self. It is the perception of the self as separate, identifying with false projections (accomplishments, labels, identity based on shifting phenomena) rather than on reality (eternally beloved, out of God, connected). Also, destroying (present progressive) is the word apollumi, which is the kind of destroying that precedes renewal, not utter destruction (read more improved lenses on Scripture in my book, Raising Hell Book.
