Apologies for the time in getting this online! Better late than never - Its been a week to the day since the Common Weal / Boomerang Christmas party took place in the clubbie in Raglan Street in Stobswell. Cant believe how fast this week has gone! The party was a fantastic success, I honestly do not think it could have went any better - so many thanks to all of you who baked, volunteered, contributed, donated, and did all the work required to put on such a party. The response from you all was amazing and was definitely appreciated by the kids, who had an equally amazing time judging by their reactions at the party! In a little over a week (about ten days I think) we managed to find 60 to 70 children and 30 to 40 deserving parents. We raised over £1000 and donated a mountain of good quality childrens toys. We baked and made sandwiches and contributed food and got it all to the Clubbie for the night. Thirty two parents attended the party with their children, the majority were single parents. Every child received presents from Santa, every parent received a present and a gift voucher for £20. There was an abundance of food at the party, many kind people donated their time and energy making sandwiches and cakes and baking and dropping off. When everything had been bought and paid for for the party we were left with eight £20 gift vouchers and £150 in cash and toys. This was all passed on to Boomerang to assist their excellent ongoing work in helping to assist people living in the Stobswell area. I have included seven photos of the night in a facebook album, (one photo below) - in total I took over 100, all that came out well will all be online soon, A website is currently being constructed, - watch out after the New Year for updates. Once more, thank you, thank you, thank you. This event was indeed a fitting beginning to mark Common Weals presence in Dundee. If we can continue in this vein I sincerely believe we can make a difference to the difficulties our city faces in the coming months and years. Merry Christmas to all you lovely people
