Appalling practice by wakefield council, they have issued - TopicsExpress

Appalling practice by wakefield council, they have issued relatives of the deceased who are buried at sugar lane cemetery with a letter stating that their relatives headstone is deemed unsafe and they will have to get it repaired or they will flatten it. So my dad has gone to see my grandmas grave as he went not long ago and it was fine. Upon arriving at the cemetery he was disgusted and shocked to see that they had forced stakes into the ground of my grandmas grave and put blocks over the headstone, to stop it apparently falling over even though its clearly not going to fall over, furthermore upon walking around the cemetery and speaking with other upset relatives who had also had the letter it became apparent that the majority of the gravestones werent unsafe and clearly they had been targeted as they had contactable living relatives whereas the actual unsafe gravestones, falling over etc the ones that were very old and clearly had no contactable relatives anymore had not had stakes driven into the graves or had the headstones blocked! Disgusting! How can it be acceptable to drive stakes straight into the grave of someone elses loved one! If my dad hadnt of been so upset by the whole image of what he walked into then he would have taken some photographs. Please SHARE and hopefully the council can put this right!
