Apparently, #Wages are Rising Faster Than #Inflation - #share Over the last few days the Conservatives propaganda machine has been pumping out stats which show that wages are now rising faster than inflation. For many, this is a shock and doesn’t reflect the reality that many are facing every day. Let’s have a look at 10 Downing Street’s claim. They claim that nearly everyone except the richest 10% saw their take-home pay rise by at least 2.5% once tax cuts were taken into account. This is above the #CPI rate of #inflation of 2.4%. But that isn’t the full truth. There are problems with the Government’s statistics. Firstly, this data only deals with wages and does not deal with the cuts to benefits which has reduced the incomes for households that were already on a low income. When we add in the benefit cuts, the stats from the IMF how that real wages have fallen by over £1,600 in the last year. The use of stats comparing just wages and not household income is a mere sleight of hand by the Conservative Party to counter the ‘cost of living’ campaign that The Labour Party are running. By manipulating stats, they are showing that their #economic policy has failed. #Wages are NOT keeping up with the rate of #inflation.
