Apparently, extroverts recharge by being with people, while introverts recharge by by being alone. Im annoyed that i didnt learn this before, but better late than later. At least i now know what i am. I once spent 5 years in a barrio with just a transistor radio and a crate of art books (Gombrich, Danto, Schjehldal, Arikha, Winterson, Harrison+Huntington, plus some Baudrillard and Foucault), and that was one of the best things that have EVER happened to me. . Autodidact that i was, my biggest mistake then was not knowing that i needed to refill the well by reading even MORE avidly DURING my re-engagement with the world as an art writer. I thought then that my fuel would last me forever. . Well, now I know better. And this time, the timing is right: Ive had ten years to recover from burnout; I am no longer constrained by any magazines editorial focus; a feedback mechanism now exists via social media; Im in the right place again; doors are opening again; and Im ready. . (Also, this time I have learned a bit under Attys Kat Legarda, Sol Deriquito- Mawis, & Cesar Strait Pareja, who can whup my sorry ass in no time should I do something stupid enough to get me sued). .
