Apparently if you are sick enough to need a walking stick you are not allowed to go to the Leicester Atos assessment centre. They wont let you in the lift because of health and safety issues. Apparently going down the stairs in a fire if you are even semi-mobile is not OK. Instead you have to go to Nottingham or Derby. Or you have to get your GP to fax Atos and explain why you cant use public transport. Oh yes, and if you do that you have to pay for any charges the doctor makes, you dont get it refunded by Atos. Its only with a doctors letter that you can get a home visit. I hate this country with a passion, because it obviously hates me and all the other sick people. Even if Andy took the day off work and drove me to Nottingham by the time I got to the appointment I would be incoherent with either pain or morphine. I just feel so damn persecuted. I was also told by the call centre person that if they feel like it, they can call you in for assessments every three months. If they put this much effort into going after tax avoiders we wouldnt have a deficit.
