Apparently someone out there took offense with me for using training collars on Rio and Tex to stop them from killing chickens and ducks. I assure you that I would NEVER hurt an animal for ANY reason. I shocked myself with the collar at the highest setting to insure it would be safe to use on the dogs and it didnt hurt me -- and I weigh 5-10 pounds less than the pups! Husband shocked himself, too, albeit unintentionally, and declared it attention getting but not painful. And thats the point of the collar -- to get the dogs attention, particularly when I am in the kitchen and see the dog through the window chasing a chicken out at the barn. Rio ignored the collar entirely (and is now living happily with my employee and her family in a bird-free environment) while Tex was successfully trained very quickly to not chase birds. No dogs were hurt during the training process and many feathered lives were saved. End of story.
