Apparently the person who runs the ohioans against common core - TopicsExpress

Apparently the person who runs the ohioans against common core website does not want to hear the truth and they wan to censor me and my posts. I posted my thoughts on their article, 600+ Ohioans Refuse To Be Dissuaded! – Updated, and the person in charge of the blog deleted my comments. Pleae note that as of 9:46 PM November 24 nobody can post comments on the article. So here is my reply: Below is the paragraph which misquotes my wifes tweet and suggests that she was given special favor. (My wife writes for the Washington Times and ALL media were allowed in the hearing room including bloggers.) Here one of the posts from the ohioansagainstcommoncore website: BTW – Rep. Brenner’s wife was given media access to the hearing room and while sitting in a taxpayer provided chair sent disrespectful tweets to those sitting in the atrium – @saramarietweets sent at 7:17pm 11/21 – “RINOs? What’s sad is that some like yourself try to lie & bully their way to victory. THAT’S sad.” Wow. The Vice Chair’s wife calling an HB237 supporter a liar and bully. This is beyond the pale and just another example of their contempt for those of us who are merely asking for a fair and open legislative path for HB237. Make sure those below hear your outrage. Leadership needs to step up to the plate and stop this charade. Below is the twitter string showing the context of my wifes tweet. The forth tweet down is my wifes counter tweet to Amandas accusation that I am a RINO. As you can see from the above paragraph, it is completely taken out of context. Seems u have a warped sense of what good is. @OhioAgainstCCSS 3:22 AM - 22 Nov 13 · Details Below are a list of numbered bullet points found on the site. After each bullet point I have placed a few questions of my own. The following sentence is clearly meant to demean me and my bills: 5) Vice Chair Brenner introduces HB181 & HB193 as distractions to a repeal – June How can my bills be distractions when they were introduced two months before representative Thompsons bills? legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=130_HB_181 lsc.state.oh.us/analyses130/h0237-i-130.pdf The bill analysis shows that HB 181 was introduced May 29, 2013. HB 193 was introduced on June 4. Rep Thompsons bill was introduced July 31st two months after my bills. 6) Rep. Andy Thompson introduces Common Core Repeal legislation – July I find it interesting that the bullet points are somewhat vague citing June and July making it appear as though they were introduced back to back when there was in fact a two month difference. The person placing the bullet point on the blog didnt mention the May 29th date. 7) Demand for hearings on HB237 – July through October The house wasnt in session in July and August and we didnt start having hearings again until October for any bills in the Education Committee. (The committee currently has 50 bills in it.) 9) Promised “Proponent Only” hearing set for November 20th – Nov 8th 10) Request for Riffe Theatre to accommodate Ohio citizens in anticipation of large turnout – Request denied 11) Request for Atrium with video feed to accommodate Ohio citizens – Request denied These three points are hearsay. Im sorry but only Chairman Stebelton and Representative Thompson are fully aware of the situation and are the ones involved in the conversation. I was told at the time that the Atrium had been denied by those in charge of the atrium. Since I have been in the legislature the Ohio House Education Committee has never heard a hearing outside of normal Committee Chambers and the Education Committee has never been filmed, so the above requests are not normal. Also, most hearings are heard in smaller hearing rooms, not the largest hearing room which is the finance hearing room. This hearing was held in the finance hearing room and when the Atrium became available, the people in charge of the Atrium allowed its use for the hearing. 12) Brenner’s “we can keep the money” distraction bills receive FOUR hearings each as of Nov 20th While it is true that there were 4 hearings the rest of the statement is a lie. I introduced the bills and I had a hearing back in May and I think June. The bills were introduced as placeholder bills because I was still working on them and I had planned to introduce substitute bills in the fall. I did this to send a signal to the Ohio Department of Education so they would take notice. We had a couple hearings within the last week to introduce the substitute bills. I asked that the hearings on HB 181 and 193 prior to HB 237 be kept short and that witnesses be limited because I didnt want them to be used as an excuse for anything. The hearing on both of these bills lasted 15 minutes. These bills have nothing to do with keeping the money and the description that they are distraction bills yet again, is meant to demean and belittle the bills. (I suggest that you read them.) 13) Chairman breaks commitment and solicits for HB237 Opponent testimony for Nov 20th hearing What commitment? Chairman Stebelton told me that he committed to a second hearing. He said that he had never promised a proponents only hearing. Representative Thompson said that he did. Since the conversation happened between the two men, any posts on the blog are hearsay. 14) 600+ OHIOANS REFUSED TO BE DISSUADED – CHECK OUT THE “SMALL VOCAL CROWD” (Vice Chair Brenner’s description of the concerned Ohio parents and taxpayers sitting in the Atrium. Reprehensible.) They stayed despite a two hour late start, being turned away from the hearing room, no video feed and being shown no respect. Does this pass for representation?? Chairman Stebelton and Vice Chair Brenner need to be called out for their disrespectful conduct. It appears “the People’s House” is in need of a major “House” cleaning in 2014 to clear the waste and debris. This is an outright lie. I never said check out the small vocal crowd. Since the blog posting is anonymous, we will never know who actually wrote it to be able to find out where the quote came from or any context; but clearly some people are believing it because my office has received telephone calls from a few constituents regarding the post. In fact I made comments that there were a lot of people in attendance to hear the bills. I even told the chairman that I thought there would be a large turnout and that we should make sure there was enough room. He and staff looked into it and eventually they were able to accommodate the crowd. I was quoted on 610 WTVN the following morning. I called in and I was quoted as saying that there were clearly a lot more people passionately involved now than four years ago. I also said on WTVN that we had good witnesses on both sides of the issue. NON-ELECTED HOUSE EDUCATION POLICY ADVISOR – COLLEEN GRADY – She was the gatekeeper at the hearing room door. And yes, she had one of the cushioned chairs inside. 614-466-8110 What is the point of this sentence? She was making sure that all witnesses, legislators, and media were allowed in the room due to the limited seating. She works as the House Republican policy adviser on education. She is there before the meetings, after the meetings, for caucuses and for Representatives in the field. She works on weekends and is available to any Republican Representative in the Ohio House. She is not a gatekeeper. Anyone could have requested to testify in the committee and that was made widely known. Also, my wife has tried numerous times to politely comment on blogs and posts where she sees things said that are not true about us. On Facebook, they have deleted her comments, and blocked her from the groups, showing an intention on their part to not want to hear or care about the truth. And then, even though theyve read the corrections (because they were there before whomever deleted them did so), they continue to spread the same lies that they have already been told are completely untrue. I hope those who see that this post realize that the website is designed to deliberately deceive its readers, and also why my wife and I are saying what we are. If you wish, feel free to forward my email to anyone involved in the pro-HB 237 groups. You may also have anyone call me directly on my cell at 740-602-5033.
