Appeal For Victor Dumanski Gains Momentum Patriotic Sierra Leoneans and civil society organizations have vehemently condemned the alleged plans by the judiciary to sell the $2 million house of Victor Dumanski at Hamilton to him for $450,000. According to the reports, Victor Dumanski was informed through his lawyer to repurchase the so-called land on which he built his house over three years ago. A concerned citizen told this press that there is nowhere in the world where an acre and two town lots is sold for $450,000. What has baffled members of the public is the fact that Victor Dumanski has sent an appeal letter to President Ernest Bai Koroma urging him to intervene in the matter which he considers an injustice aimed at disposing him of his property but that the President is yet to respond. According to Victor Dumanski, “such a ruling by the judiciary will scare away potential investors.” Victor Dumanski yesterday informed this medium at his Hamilton Village residence that his lawyer, Kekuda Thollie informed him about plans to resell the land to him for $450,000 that would enable him regains possession of his two houses. He disclosed that he informed his solicitor that he has no money but could be willing to offer a reasonable amount if allowed entry into the house to examine the extent of the damage to the houses, an offer that was turned down. “I want to estimate how much I will spend on repairs and how much people are willing to offer if the house is put on sale,” Victor Dumanski stated and observed that if it was in Ukraine or Russia, he could not have been subjected to such injustice and lamented that the court ruling has devastated him. He further revealed that he has reported the matter to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the Minister of Lands, Musa Tarawally, the Chief Justice, Umu Hawa Tejan Jalloh, the Ombudsman, Justice Edmond Cowan, the Minister of Political and Public Affairs, Kemoh Sesay and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Franklyn Bai Kargbo but to no avail disclosing that after reviewing the documents, his lawyer in Cyprus said it is impossible for him to lose the case. Foreign embassies and civil society organizations among other stakeholders have all condemned the unfair treatment meted out to Victor Dumanski as he was never informed about the court ruling let alone his right to appeal. A retired civil servant intimated that such rulings have the tendency to dent the good image of not only the judiciary but the entire country.
