Applications Available for Archery Deer Herd Management Program Decatur, Illinois Applications are now available for the 2014 Archery Deer Herd Management Program at the Macon County Conservation District. Applications may be picked up at Rock Springs Nature Center or downloaded from the internet at maconcountyconservation.org/habitat-restoration. Rock Springs Nature Center is open, Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Applications must be returned by August 29, 2014. Late applications will not be accepted. A lottery drawing of all applicants will be held at Rock Springs Nature Center at 3 p.m. on September 5, 2014 to determine program participants. Hunters need not be present to be included in the drawing. This is a limited bow hunting program to assist with management of the deer herd. Areas included in the lottery drawing are Rock Springs, Sand Creek, Friends Creek and Fort Daniel Conservation Areas. The program dates are October 24 through December 19 except for November 21-23, November 27, and December 4-7. Permits will be available for purchase after the lottery drawing.
