Apr. 20 - Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of The Lord - Reflection and Prayer by Bishop Robert F. Morneau: If there is no resurrection, our faith is in vain... Jesus, the Son of God, came to live among us and inform us that he is the gateway to eternal life. In fact, he has gone ahead of us to prepare a place for us. This is Good News; this is Easter joy. Life trumps death. The tomb is empty. Jesus is risen. We will die as surely as our ancestors who have come and gone. But faith carries a promise - that where Jesus has gone, we are to follow. We too will pass through the blinding mystery of death - that dark, dark mystery - and come through it into a whole new life. Our Easter joy is not arrogant, but somewhat muted. Question for reflection: How do reason and faith shape your vision of life? Prayer: Risen Lord, grant us the gift of faith to believe truly in the mystery of the resurrection. Our vision is so limited; our reason so shallow. Send the gift of your Spirit to enlighten our minds and enkindle our hearts. Fill us with Easter joy and peace, we pray.
