April 6,2014 Dear friend in Jesus Christ, God wants to bless you! We must become convinced of this truth. To receive the blessings which God offers to us, we must believe. Because we believe we receive the promises God makes to us. God wants us to encounter Him. For this reason we wants us to approach Him as His children. This helps us to understand His motivation because we know we would do anything we can for our children. Why does God make a promise which we must believe to receive? God wants us to learn how to co-operate with Him and partner with Him in relationship with Him, just like Jesus does. God is all powerful and can do anything, but chooses for us to be involved in the relationship with Him doing His part and with us doing our part, God makes promises to us which creates expectation in our heart but also allows us to actively believe so we can release the blessing into our lives and therefore into the world. Let us look at 2 Peter 1:2-4. “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” Grace and peace are both blessings which God has for us and desires for us to have and walk in with increasing measure. This increase happens as a result of the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. This means God want us to live in revelation of the truth, which gives us this knowledge. Just intellectual knowledge is not enough. It must be something which we believe in our heart because God has revealed it to our spirit. Intellectual knowledge makes us proud, but spiritual knowledge produces love. Peter goes on to say, “...seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” The true knowledge (knowledge in our spirit) or revelation which brings faith, is how we co-operate with God in our lives. What do we know unless God reveals it to us? Please notice, we are called to His own glory and excellence which comes from Him and not from us. Also notice that it is a result of His divine power which has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness. There is nothing left out of all. We will experience this if we believe His promise and we will not experience it, if we do not believe His promise. We receive the blessings He promises to us when we believe this true knowledge of Him. Where do we get this true knowledge? Verse 3 is the answer. “For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” We become partakers of His divine nature because of all the promises which God makes to us and as we believe them. God makes a promise to us. When we believe the promise, we release the promise with all of its blessing into our lives. Yes there may be a waiting period between the time we believe and the promise manifests, but God is faithful and true to His word. We must keep believing in the waiting period between believing the promise and the possession of the blessing. I love you in Christ, Michael PS: All scriptures are from the New American Standard Version.
