Archaeologists with RMI-HPO just returned from conducting - TopicsExpress

Archaeologists with RMI-HPO just returned from conducting emergency excavations of a World War II mass grave on Eninburr Islet in Kwajalein atoll. The recent king tides in Kwajalein caused extensive erosion of the Eninburr coastline exposing a large number of human bones. RMI-HPO traveled to Eninburr to recover human remains in threat of being washed away. Historical research, artifact analysis, bone characteristics, and site analysis indicates that the mass grave dates to WWII. A professional osteological analysis conducted by JPAC further indicates that the remains are of Asian/Japanese descent. RMI-HPO is currently conducting meetings with the Japanese embassy to repatriate the remains of these young soldiers home. RMI-HPO is dedicated to returning those killed in the Marshall Islands during WWII home to their families. This photo shows RMI-HPO archaeologists and volunteers with a Japanese soy sauce bottle found during excavation.
