Are energy saving light bulbs effective? My experience has been that they are terribly expensive compared to conventional light bulbs, certainly do not last the up to five years we are told and make little or no difference to electricity consumption in a normal household. Even if electricity consumption was reduced by using these light bulbs, the cost of constantly replacing them would negate any saving on electricity consumption. To sum it up, using energy saving light bulbs in my household has increased overall household running costs. I think its time to go back to the conventional, trusty light bulb. Has anyone had a similar experience?
