Are there any primary teachers in the UK following who could help me find a syllabus/curriculum for me to follow with Iris, I havent been finding it very easy to find one online, I have visited the government education website and cant find anything that is in enough detail and we wont get any help from the authorities yet on this. She would be due to start school this September (She will be 5yrs in mid September) but as most of you know Im homeschooling her so need to start making some plans for our lessons, what I want to teach her. Most of it will be done through play, going with the flow of her interests... for example I have never had any success at trying to get Iris to write her name even though she can write quite a few of the letters but today I thought I would try another word violin and she tried it straight away, spelling it out as she went. I am getting more and more aware that teaching Iris is all about finding those little sparks of interest and then she will learn very fast. I know there will be large areas where we get behind because of her lack of conversation but in other areas I think she will be able to follow a mainstream syllabus that is age appropriate as she can already read some short words, count to 20 and knows her alphabet. So any links, websites, pdfs of curriculum aims, lesson plans.. would be greatly appreciated, could you send them to irisgracepainting@yahoo . I would like to try and follow the UK curriculum, in our own way, so if at some stage we see that she is able to move onto a Mainstream school it will be an easier transition and she will be on the same page.
