Are we doomed to create artificially intelligent machines that will swat us away like flies? Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom is raising this question again. And I mean again. The idea that man and machine could have an uneasy relationship somewhere in the future really goes back at least as far as the 1940s when Science fiction writer Isaac Asimov formulated his three laws of robotics and MITs Norbert Weiner wrote “Cybernetics” Here is story about Bostrom: huffingtonpost/2014/08/22/artificial-intelligence-oxford_n_5689858.html A Wikipedia entry about Asimovs Three Laws: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Laws_of_Robotics And a recent article about Weiner: theatlantic/technology/archive/2014/06/norbert-wiener-the-eccentric-genius-whose-time-may-have-finally-come-again/372607/
