Are you and your colleagues... · Women working to promote health and wellness through nutrition education and obesity prevention? · Aspiring women leaders who want to build their capacity to effect change? · Women committed to excellence and who recognize the importance of leadership to make and sustain social change? If so, join us in a unique opportunity to learn alongside with partners in a safe and supportive environment to explore new/different ideas, apply new tools, and build personal and professional capacity to lead change. Obesity prevention requires engagement by multiple stakeholders to sustain needed changes at the local level. Local health departments, community organizations, and community residents/leaders must work in partnership on multiple fronts including education, policy change, and systems/environmental change to challenge the adverse effects of obesity. Network Leaders on the Move (NLOM) offers a unique learning environment and practical strategies to support leaders working across the spectrum to create change. The cohort based program will engage 15-20 leaders from across LHDs funded by the Network for a Healthy California in a one year community engagement leadership training consisting of leadership assessment, leadership trainings, peer learning, webinars, technical assistance, and experiential learning. Eligibility: NLOM is available for teams of 2-3 people currently working on obesity prevention activities funded by the Network. Teams must include one LHD staff and 1-2 community residents, champion moms, and/or non-profit leaders who are committed to participating in activities throughout the year. Cost: NLOM is free for all selected teams and includes limited travel support for transportation, lodging pursuant to Network travel guidelines, access to all training materials and membership to the statewide Women’s Health Leadership network after completing the program.
