Are you restless? Read on.... My reflection with Shirley tonight during our couple time! Shirley: Dear are you going training (cycling) tonight? Howe: No! Shirley: why? Howe: I want to apply Ps. 116:7-9 and sleep by 11pm This is my reflection Some of us are constantly rest-less. I am one of them. There are 3 types of restless soul: 1. Some of us are seemingly rest-less all the time and have insufficient rest. Why? We have allowed ourselves to be defined and driven by our fast-paced city life, long hours at work, commitments to family, church, late nights with social media, emails, gadgets, TV. All these will affect our physical health, emotional well-being, work performance and even mental health. Are you sucked into a relentless world and rest-less / sleep deprived and have not reviewed your PIES? (Physical. Intellectual. Emotional. Intellectual. Spiritual) If you are falling sick, running on adrenaline and low on batt. Take a break! Apply STOP (Step back, Think, Observe. Proceed) Pause to rethink your priorities and pace of life to ensure we are consistently well-rested! 2. Some of us have high level of energy and great capacity and are prone to multi-task and stretch ourselves in a myriad of activities and prone to feeling restless. This will lead to a feeling of restlessness. After awhile, we are used to such life that we cannot stand being quiet or alone in solitude! The restless spirit in us constantly yearns for more! Something more to accomplish and something else to do or person to meet. What must we do? We need to channel this excess energy towards God and activities that are purposeful and aligned to our mission and biblical priorities in life! 3. Some of us may be vulnerable to being restless or lost because we are at the crossroads or experiencing life transitions or coping with a major event / traumatic experiences like death, terminal illness, financial burden or relationship break down. There is a lack of clear direction and purpose in our lives and we may be dissatisfied and experiencing internal strife! So how? We need to recalibrate our inner being (compass) by taking time to pray, seek Gods ways and then step out in faith and obedience to act upon His calling. Otherwise, this restlessness may persists! All in all, rested-ness in God comes from an intimate walk with God. When we place Jesus at the centre of it all, we experience peace and quiet confidence in Him even in the midst of turmoil. We learn to let go let God and release control and anxiety to God; trusting Him that circumstances doesnt determine Gods will in our lives but trust in Him does. Further, if it is not ok; it is not the end and in the end, it will be ok! With this promise, I mediate and pray Ps. 116:7-9, Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me. He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. And so I will walk in the Lords presence as I live here on earth! Thank you Father that I can rest in your faithful arms of love now, tomorrow and forever! Goodnight everyone and sleep early tonight!
