9/8 SURF/BOAT/JETTY Water temp this nice sunny no humidity is 72.9. What a weekend for fluke fishing. Some nice catches of the beaches. A bunch of throw backs but also a good amount of keeper fluke in the 18 to 24 inch range. Small blues in the 2 to 5lb range were being caught again yesterday. Best bets form them was bunker, mullet, or metals. And of course there are sharks being caught at night mostly but some are being caught during the day as well. Just a word of advise, as the day goes on and the week as well, you may want to start taking those heavy sticks with you. That NE should churn things up and you may need some heavy lead to hold bottom. It will also be a bit harder to throw those plugs as well. Maybe bucktails or AVAs will be the way to go. Also I should have live eels in stock soon. Keep your eyes on the bait status web page. On to the reports: Brigantine: kingfish, blues, few sharks LBI: fluke, blues, few kingfish, few sharks Barnegat Light rocks: fluke, blues, tog, stripers at night IBSP: fluke, blues, few kingfish, sharks Seaside: fluke, blues, few kingfish, sharks Pt. Pleasant: fluke, blues off the wall and surf Manasquan River: few striper at night Jetties: fluke, blues, tog SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM EDT MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON so if you are going out front please be careful. I got a few reports from the canyons from the weekend. Some headed out for tuna only to find green water and not much life in it in some places. The Hudson Canyon did have some catches of bigeye and yellowfin tuna along with some nice tilefish. I heard second hand that some longfin were trolled along with a couple marlin. Barnegat Light Reef, Garden State north and south, and Little Egg all had reports of some fluke being caught. A reported a bunch of throw backs but some nice keepers were caught as well. Party boats had catches of fluke, blues, bonito, false albacore, and mackerel. The fluke it was a ton of 17 inch ones that went back in the water. No limits from what I heard but 4 was high hook. Some even had the throw back blues or in other words only caught shorts. The good thing is many more fluke are being caught now.
