Are you shaping up for Summer? With record low temps much throughout North America & a loooooong drawn out cold spells, weve all gained some weight. Some of us have hit record highs & this can be discouraging. Summer is coming & NOW is the time to motivate yourself to get that body in shape for that upcoming wedding, family reunion, hanging out at the beach, pool, or just looking hot in those Summer clothes youve been eying. So whats your game plan? Hot chocolate & blankets were just what you needed on those cold frigid nights, but if youve gotten use to skipping the gym & hoarding comfort foods just to keep you satisfied for the winter, you better change things up & make it quick! Reignite that fire for a healthy, fit body & get your ass to the gym! Heres a few reminders about why you should get going with your training & diet again. Spring is here.....what are you waiting for?!!! 1. Wedding season is upon us - June is THE major month for weddings. My wedding was in June & thousands of people celebrate & share weddings in June. Fathers Day is also in June. Dont look fat & out of shape for Fathers Day! Cmon! Kick start things by training on a stairmill or an elliptical. Sheesh, for the love of God just get out & walk 2 miles 5-6 days a week. Hire a personal trainer at a local gym. For $10-$20 per hour you can hire a certified personal trainer to get you back on track & headed in the right direction. Thats nothing compared to what it would cost you if you were sick & missed work. Exercising = Healthy. 2. Smaller clothes are coming - Look, I promise Im not poking fun at your winter weight. Ive been there before too. With warmer weather around the corner, its just a matter of time before layers of clothing start coming off. Whether youre ready or not, that bikini you want to get back into is fast approaching. As you look out the window today, summer may seem like a lifetime away, but I promise you itll be here before you know it! Picture yourself outside laying next to a beautiful swimming pool or gorgeous ocean beach. How does that make you feel? Sad, or Anxious? Set a goal to participate in a local event such as a 5K run or even a fundraiser walk. A goal is a goal. Look forward to it & start now! 3. Spring break is nearly here - For some of us, spring break has already started or will start as early as NEXT WEEK! If that doesnt scare you into doing something about that extra weight your packing, what will? Get in gear today. If youre not a gym member somewhere, visit one after work today! If you plan on being at home with the kids on spring break, make a habit of exercising at home or walking, jogging around the block each day. How about twice a day? Have the kids hold you to a certain goal. I will do that with my 8yr old daughter until I achieve the goal I have set. Plus, Im setting a good example for my little princess. 4. Spring is the season for finding LOOOOOVE - Oh yes, you read that right! If youre single, you owe it to yourself to get that body back in shape. Falling in love with someone for their body isnt love, but its a hell of a lot easier to find that perfect person youve been looking for & vice versa when you look smokin hot! Im often asked, Why cant I find a real man out there? Or....Why wont a woman look at me or give me the time of day for a date? Well......when youre seriously overweight & have a low self esteem, its tough to find a date. I know that sounds like Im picking on you, but cmon......you gotta put some effort into your body if youre gonna find that perfect man or woman youve been dreaming of. Exercising not only gets you back into shape, it helps with depression & can even lead to reverse depression. How do I now? Im nearly 40 & I feel better now that I did in my 20s while on those antidepressants. Ugggh! Those days are behind me & its all blue skies from here on. If I can do it, so can you! 5. Your friends need you - many people have already fallen off the wagon for their 2014 goals. Why not give your friends the boost they need by leading the way? Set an example for them. Work out with a friend if thats what it takes. I currently work out with 2 other partners & I owe them so much. They push me 6 days a week! We often have friendly competitions in the gym & it works to our advantage. Find a workout partner if you need too & hold them accountable, but make sure they hold you accountable as well. Dont make excuses, show up on time & give it all you got during your exercise/workout period. Working out in groups or with a partner also creates a solid emotional boost to the recommitment of goals. 6. You owe it to yourself - oh yes! This was a brutal winter here in the Midwest, but dont let that be your reasoning for letting your goals die. When its been 10-20 degrees outside for nearly months at a time, its tough to venture outside & run or walk every day, but dont let that stop you from getting that hot body for your 2014 Summer! Give yourself the power & momentum to push forward & start your Spring & Summer. Dont you just despise people that always bring up a negative past & dwell on it? Dont be that person! Winter is over, its time for a NEW you! Its time to move FORWARD & live for Spring & Summer. Forget the past, youre no longer looking back! Its time to put it in drive & step on the petal. I plan on looking hot while turning 40 next month. Im going to show everyone that age is only a number. Whether Im riding my motorcycle, hanging by the pool, on the job site, or hanging out with friends.....Im going to look my best. Make a commitment today & join me for the best, healthiest Summer youve been dreaming of all winter!
