Are your engine coolant temperatures starting to rise? If you own - TopicsExpress

Are your engine coolant temperatures starting to rise? If you own a 84 or later Corvette this could be caused by debris in the air side or fins of the radiator. On 84 and later Corvettes all the air for the radiator comes in from underneath the front fascia so they can pick up a lot trash. This is even worse on the C5 and C6 Corvettes because they are even lower to the ground. We usually find leaves, grass, sand, paper cups, cigarette packets, plastic bags, etc. When the electric cooling fans are on it works lika a vacuum cleaner sucking everything off the ground. This trash can get between the A/C condensor and the radiator so just cleaning the front of the condensor doesnt completely solve the problem. We use compressed air to blow the debris out from the backside. Before you spend a lot of money replacing a radiator or diagnosing an overheating problem have this checked. We see a lot of this during the hot summer months in the lowcountry.
