Around 410,000 public school teachers to receive bonuses PASIG CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) submitted July 12th the first batch of validated reports required for the release of the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB). Consisting of 145 out of 191 divisions (75.92%), the first batch covers 29,284 schools with 409,725 eligible employees (teachers, non-teaching, and teaching-related personnel). The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will take around a week to process the documents, after which the bonuses would be downloaded to the Regional or Division offices. The second batch of reports is expected to be completed and submitted to the IATF soon. Bonuses range from Php 5,000 (satisfactory) to Php 35,000 (exceptional). DepEd employees who are recipients of national awards such as Literacy Awards and national awards from the Civil Service Commission and Metrobank Foundation in FY 2012 are already guaranteed beneficiaries of the maximum amount of Php 35,000. Based on Executive Order 80 s2012, the PBB is a scheme that intends to reward government employees based on their performance and promote greater accountability in the public sector.
