Around 60 Jews were able to successfully escape from the Sobibor - TopicsExpress

Around 60 Jews were able to successfully escape from the Sobibor Death Camp in the most successful single act of resistance during the Holocaust. Sobibor was the destination for 250,000 Jews who were sent into the gas chambers. There is a film and several books about the camp and the resistance in the camp. Jews who resisted were part of a group of ~500 prisoners kept alive in the camp to perform slave labor there. Of the 60 survivors, these Sobibor survivors still remain to testify about the facts of Sobibor. After escaping from Sobibor, most of the Jews were left to fend for themselves deep in the forests of eastern Poland with no food or resources. They quickly figured out that the only way to survive was to become armed and shoot anyone who got in their way. This is how most of them survived until liberation.
