Around early 2003, my father realized that all mas current memories had been wiped out and the only thing still familiar to her were her childhood days in the town of Krishnanagar in the mid thirties. The town would have changed beyond recognition, so daddy asked mas third brother, a gifted amateur artist, to sketch the house and high street as he remembered it. Whenever ma would feel distressed, daddy would take out these sketches and tell ma all the stories about her childhood that he had heard from her over fifty years of marriage. And, just for a bit, she would be happy and content in the only world she still remembered and understood.
