Around the first of each month I receive in the latest installment for the corporate health insurance. In March it comes later as they have to calculate the new rates. Each year I anticipate a certain amount of increase, cuz there always is one. Two days ago I received the new rates. The good news is we dont have to change from our current plan. The bad..we incur a TWENTY NINE percent increase for the privilege. Available options are 1. grin and bear it, which makes it hard on the corporation during a very lean (gross understatement) time 2. change to a high deductible plan to cut the premium down, which makes it hard employees for when they have an issue, and they will have issues. 3. play with employee contribution percentages to spread the pain around (misery does love company) which makes it harder on everyone involved, by varying degrees. So lots of work to do, while our time would be much better served actually doing what we are in business to do. Oh and did I neglect to mention, this has to be figured out in less than a week when the first installment is due. All courtesy of the Affordable Care Act.
