Around the turn of the last century sulphur water was in vogue, being used for medicinal purposes. Along the top of the gorge close to the present Whirlpool Bridge there were a number of natural sulphur springs. This area of north Main Street was called Bellvue Springs thus the street signs still bear witness. There were a number of homes along Whirlpool Street that were actually bath houses long torn down to make way for the Robert Moses Parkway. The new railroad station is now on what was called Bath Street. At on e time a great place.....
