Arrived safe in Dublin. I always smile when I arrive here. The UK - TopicsExpress

Arrived safe in Dublin. I always smile when I arrive here. The UK and Republic of Ireland are part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) which means you do not need a passport to travel within the CTA. Well, thats the theory. You need to show your passport to prove that you dont need to show your passport. The border guard told me this is to prevent those from outside the CTA from entering unauthorised. There is a flaw in this theory. If you fly to Belfast from elsewhere in UK you dont need photographic ID. A credit card will do. You can just drive across the border to the Republic.
