Arsenal ready to rescue pedro from barcelona bench... If reports from the Spanish media are to be believed, Arsenal are in ‘advanced talks’ with the representatives of Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez ahead of a potential move in January. The Spanish international is said to be unhappy over his limited opportunities at the Nou Camp and is understood to be willing to quit the club in order to secure first-team football. According to the Spanish television show Punto Pelota , the 26-year-old winger has his sights set on the upcoming World Cup Finals in Brazil and seems to believe that he will not make the cut for the Spain National team if he continues to languish on the Barcelona bench. The show also reported that it is Arsenal who have shown immediate interest in the player and have already begun talks over a move when the transfer window re-opens in January. While he might be out of favour at the moment, it is worth noting that Pedro has a phenomenal record for the Catalan giants and he did play and score for them yesterday. The Spaniard has scored 74 goals in 232 appearances for the club, which is an outstanding tally for someone who operates on the flanks. Moreover, he has all the classic hallmarks of an Arsenal wide man. He’s quick, loves to play short passes and one-twos, he can take on defenders, his crossing is absolutely pin-point and he’s very strong on the ball as well. The truth is, at Barcelona, Pedro has just been over-shadowed by the arrival of Neymar and the resurgence of Alexis Sanchez. He’s truly a world-class talent who might just be a little surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp. Personally, I would love to see him at the Emirates. I believe that if Arsenal go in, we will have a very good chance of signing him. With the World Cup on the horizon, he will surely be considering his options. However, the injury to Messi might just allow him plenty of opportunity and he might change his mind. While Arsenal’s need for another wide man is a rather debatable subject, I think that we could do with a little more natural width on the pitch. The signing of Pedro, should it happen, would add another dimension to the Gunners’ attack. An Arsenal forward line with Pedro and Walcott on the flanks would be lethal. If Arsene Wenger manages to bring in Pedro along with an established striker in January, I will be a very happy Gooner.
