Arsenal transfer news – Khedira off, Schneiderlin talks Arsenal - TopicsExpress

Arsenal transfer news – Khedira off, Schneiderlin talks Arsenal may have more money to spend this summer than ever before, with the debt incurred by building the Emirates stadium no longer requiring Arsene Wenger to scour the French second division and other corners of the football globe looking to unearth a hidden gem in the transfer market. But the Frenchman is still not the kind of manager, like many others I could mention, that does not care about the club’s money. The Prof always wants to get value for money, which is why he has apparently refused to meet the £80,000 a week salary demands of Loic Remy. And the same financial acumen seems to have put paid to the possible transfer of Sami Khedira from Real Madrid. The World Cup winning Germany midfielder wants to at least treble his current weekly wages of £50,000 at Real Madrid, which is why, according to The Express, the Gunners have abandoned Khedira and instigated talks with Southampton over their France international Morgan Schneiderlin. The paper claims that the £18 million that the South Coast club want for their midfielder is a little more than Arsenal want to pay. However, it is still less than Madrid’s demands for Khedira and the Frenchman’s wage demands will be whole lot less. I actually think that Schneiderlin was the better option anyway, with Premier League experience and a more disciplined defensive attitude than the all-rounder German. And he is younger. Let’s just hope we get him. #Whizzy
