Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal are working on clinching a ‘spectacular signing’ for the new season, but concedes there is nothing to shout about just yet. The Gunners have been linked with big- money moves for Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain and Wayne Rooney, while they’re also paying close attention to Marouane Fellaini and Cesc Fabregas. Wenger is believed to be ready to go in with an increased offer for Liverpool striker Suarez , but following the Gunners’ 7-0 win over an Indonesian Dream Team, the Frenchman insists there’s nothing new to report. ‘You want me to announce a spectacular signing but I can’t,’ admitted Wenger, speaking on the Vietnamese leg of Arsenal’s Asia tour. ‘But we are working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad.’ With Manchester United having lodged a £26m offer for Fabregas, Wenger will need to move fast if he intends to bring his former captain back to the Emirates. But regardless of whether David Moyes manages to land the midfielder, Wenger predicts United will still be a force under the Scot. ‘The next Premier League season will be interesting.
