Arsène Wenger says Calum Chambers has the qualities to establish himself as a regular member of the Arsenal first-team squad. The 19-year-old signed from Southampton in July and impressed at the heart of defence when making his debut at last weekend’s Emirates Cup. Chambers can cover a variety of positions and Wenger believes the teenager has the qualities to be a long-term success. “Hes 19 years of age, hes a young promising talent and when youre a manager you believe in the players when you buy them,” Wenger said. “Im a great believer that we spent a lot of money for him, thats true but in the longer term it is well spent - that is the most important thing. When a player is bought for a longer period you can never say its expensive. At the moment its expensive yes but I dont regret it. “He can play a major role because in what I observe he has the qualities to impose himself in this part of the team. I believe he can play in defensive midfield and thats where I see him.” Note : That last quote, seems preety clear of a hint there wont be any DM comin in.
