Overview Each session we shall study a master artist of the past, such as Rembrandt and Georgia O’Keeffe and imitate his or her work. By creating paintings of their own (in the style of the artist we are studying) each student will produce their own unique artwork. I will teach techniques—such as color mixing and shading—along the way. Sessions: There are three weekly classes per session. Each session we shall study and imitate a new artist. I am entering my junior year in college and am studying to become an artist. I have worked as a teacher’s assistant in art classes for children’s of all ages at the Des Moines Art Center for six years, and have taught a few of my own art classes. I have also taken art lessons since I was nine years old. In teaching my own art lessons, I will be combining some of my favorite elements from all of the art classes I have taken, assisted, or taught over the years. Materials Needed: List of basic materials we will be using: (You may purchase these at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I will provide all other materials we will be using.) ¨ Kneaded Eraser ¨ No. 2 Pencil ¨ 11” by 14” pad of Bristol Paper shop.hobbylobby/products/strathmore-11-x-14-300-series-smooth-bristol-pad-274399/ ¨ 9-15 year olds will also be using a canvas for sessions one and four.
