Arthur H. Woodard Jr. MSW, SOULcial Worker/HELPer I have worked my best to practice, learn and teach recovery. I am a SOULcial Worker whose practice has evolved through personal, educational, clinical, and practical experiences since 1974 (2 years after I received a B.A. in Economics from Yale). I have practiced the Art of SOULcial Work in treatment settings ,with police officers, with a casino empowered Native Americans, as a part of several research protocols and a training institute. My practice continues to evolve as I continue in my best practice of discovering, developing and providing SOULcial Work Services for HELPing Recovery and Holistic Wellness. My current focus is on developing and providing learning collaboratives for the purpose of discovering and promoting humanity and competent cultures. My focus has been uncovered by the lessons learned from co-facilitating a workshop entitled “Racism of the Well Intended” with Jim Wuelfing for over twenty years. Additional areas of focus in learning collaboratives include performance support for recovery and peer recovery coaching; developing assets and strengths through wellness planning; and stress life management. As a HELPer, I make an Honest Effort to engage HELPartners in Learning Recovery and Doing (Performing) Recovery Occupations. I HELPrepare them in developing the ability to Teach and/or Coach Recovery. This Process of HELPing is my Humble Effort to Learn Power to Recover Self and Live Wellness. The SOUL in SOULcial Work represents my mission to HELParticipants to prACTice their Strengths Overcoming Unmanageability & Limitations. I encourage HELParticipants address life challenges and stressors utilizing a Holistic Ecological focus.
