Artist extraordinaire Jordu Schell posted a picture of E.T. Last night. After seeing the picture, I immediately started reminiscing to 1982. I was 6 years old at Hardings market with my mom. I remember seeing the red and black box of Topps trading cards (featuring the now iconic picture of Elliot & E.T. On the bicycle in front of the moon), immediately I was hooked. My mom took me to see it at Plaza 2 cinema in Portage. During that movie, I was scared, excited, happy, mad, all these emotions coursed through my young mind. But the scene that has always stuck with me, was the goodbye scene. 32 years later it still resonates with me, the score by John Williams is perfect, and compliments this very tender and gentle scene, between a boy having to say goodbye to a friend. I cried then, because I didnt want it to end. The movie was magic, it touched me in a way that no other film has. At 38, I see this clip, and immediately Im 6 years old again, and remember saying goodbye hasnt gotten any easier. Enjoy. youtu.be/75M1XXEZciU
