Arts Engage also outlined five recommendations for MDA to consider: Moving forward, we recommend that MDA: a. Formally review the Arts Entertainment Classification code, in consultation with arts groups; b. Conduct a dedicated survey of arts audiences to assess expectations of ratings and avisories for arts events; c. Consider embarking on a pilot of the Arts Term Licensing Scheme, without the weight of punitive measures and involve arts groups in drawing up its implementation details; d. Review the role, function and membership of the Arts Appeal Committee, and establish greater clarity and transparency in its processes. Reiterating the need to work closer with the media authorities in its closing statement, Arts Engage called for more regular engagement with MDA and MCI as to foster better understanding, communication and trust between all parties. With regards to other proposed amendments to the act, MDA will proceed with them, which includes a clearer delineation of Public Entertainment licensed by the Singapore Police Force and Arts Entertainment (AE) licensed by MDA, redefining AE to include virtual forms transmitted in real time for public exhibition and other administrative enhancements.
