Aruba (Dutch: Aruba) is a island autonomous country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands-together with Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands. It is set in the eponymous group of Leeward Island, part of the Lesser Antilles. The autonomous country is located 25 km north of the Paraguana peninsula, northwestern Venezuela, in the southern Caribbean Sea, east of the archipelago Monks and the Guajira Peninsula and west of another Dutch autonomous country, Curacao . Until 1986 he was part of the Netherlands Antilles (was dissolved in 2010) and currently is not part of the European Union like other areas of European sovereignty sharing this status, as Greenland (Denmark), French Polynesia (France ) and Cayman Islands (UK). However, there are other territories outside Europe of sovereign countries of the European Union, which are an integral part of herself, and French Guayana in South America.
