As Americans reflect on the tragedy, loss, and pain we felt as a Nation on September 11, 2001, let us remember and pray for the men and women who lost their lives that day, along with the families and friends left behind. The passing of thirteen years has not diminished the determination and commitment of the American people to honor the victims and remain vigilant to never allow such an attack to happen again. Extremist terror continues to be a violent global threat that demands leadership and action from the U.S. and all civilized nations to prevent terrorist acts, but also eliminate the terrorists themselves. As the U.S. confronts the growing threat from ISIL in the Middle East, I strongly support President Obama and the men and women of the Armed Forces, intelligence community, and diplomatic corps whose duty it is to defend our freedom while protecting the lives of millions of innocents in distant lands.
