As Australias only nocturnal, long distance pollinators and seed - TopicsExpress

As Australias only nocturnal, long distance pollinators and seed dispersers of native forests, our flying-foxes are arguably our most important native mammal. Over millions of years, many of our forest species have developed an important symbiotic relationship with flying-foxes and we lose them at our peril. Bats choose native fruit and blossom over cultivated fruit every time and this little Grey girl shows us how it is done!. Although we cannot provide a totally natural diet whilst our rehabilitating bats are in care, we do our best to ensure they have daily access to native browse and blossom. Perhaps if we humans hadnt destroyed so many of our forests and wetland areas we wouldnt have issues with periodic crop predation and amenity issues with bats. Hmmmmm.
