It was also another high value purchase by Real Madrid for their Galacticos 2.0 list where as Tottenham wasnt ready to let go of Modric at first. But Modric stood against the club to fulfill his wish and to play for Real Madrid. He missed the pre-season and skipped the training at Tottenham to force them to let him go. When he came to Real Madrid, Luka Modric failed to perform upto his standard which he shown during previous season (2011) at Tottenham. There were many reasons behind his failure like not having a pre-season, training and also the huge pressure of his price tag. He was also labled as the worst signing of the year by media. But after some months later, we all know what he did, even displaced one of the finest DMF, Khedira and now after a season later he is one of the main part of this Real Madrid squad. Now this season, the same thing is happening with Gareth Bale. He didnt play any matches during pre-season, skipped training to force a move, injury and a huge pressure of the price tag. We cant lable him as a flop if we see the wonder he did last season. Lets give him some time before judging him.
