As I am scrolling through my newsfeed this evening, I am noticing all of the support for our 19 brothers who parishes in the line of duty yesterday. 19 brave souls doing everything they could to help protect lives and property for people they knew and for the complete strangers they had no clue even existed. Families of these brave brothers spend the next days in mourning as their husbands, their brothers, their sons, their fathers will never be coming home. It is the reason most in the fire/EMS service do what they do, not for the fame or glory or the battle stories no matter how awesome they are, but for the feeling of helping a total stranger and at most time at their absolute worst moment ever. Never asking for a thank you or any recognition at all. These 19 heroes, 14 of them just starting life in a sense, are very much heroes in every aspect. John 15:13 states "Greater love hath no man than this, that man lay down his own life for his friend" Everyday the paid, the volunteer, no matter how skilled can at a moments notice have everything taken from them as these 19 beautiful souls had for them. God bless all the men and women of the fire service no matter what your age, rank, skill, or whatever, you are all truely heroes for accepting this life risk every time the tone goes out.
