As I consider the position of Christians living in nations hostile to Christianity, I wonder how I would behave under those circumstances. The early church was in that position in Rome for several hundred years, and the faithful followers of Christ in many countries are persecuted for their faith. These brave people carry the banner of our Lord to their own detriment, often facing imprisonment, torture, and death! Could I do this? Could you? Did God choose those people because they are stronger than me? Or do I only grow strong as circumstances get tough? Please, Father, God, make me strong and build my faith to match theirs! And let me always honor and support these people you have chosen to suffer for You to build up the body of Christ! In Jesus name, I pray for courage, Amen.
