As I dressed this morning, I thought, very much to myself, holy crap. We make so many decisions. We not only have to choose our clothes, but have to put them on. We have to wear them. Boxer shorts on backwards do not work. Thankfully, there is a label to use as a guide. We must put the tee on right side out, or people look at us funny, in addition to it being almost impossible to use the pocket to stash your pen, your stuff. Socks, thankfully, and unlike shoes, can be put on either foot----disregarding the foolish idea, of course, that they match. Through my life, I have assumed if the color is the same, that is close enough. Shirts do look better when they are not inside out----and luckily, through years of practice, when we atempt to button them up, our hands will fumble around then send a message to our brain that something is not right if the buttons are not on the right side. There being a law, of course, that at least one day a week you will attempt to put the shirt on inside out. Pants, of course, are pretty cut and dried. Only an idiot would attempt to wear pants that were put on backwards. Tying your shoes, through the years, has become a skill you can preform with your eyes closed. Unless you forget---in which case, stepping on your shoe laces, tripping yourself, is a speedy reminder. All in all, dressing is a wonderful exercise. It gets your fluids moving, your brain in gear. It takes you from the naked state, into that condition in which you are ready to face the world. Of course, I do remember walking out into my living room, my mom sitting on the couch, her looking up, saying: Your not going to wear that, are you? Wear your day with some style, be warm, comfortable.....cover your buns, its a new day----take great pride in being able to master one problem after another---and be beautiful.
