As I enter my hometown, Louisville Ky on October 9, 2014 at 4:21AM, on the towboat Vivian B we push a flat barge to drop off in Madison, Indiana we get closer to the city skyline. I can imagine, hear, smelled, feel, touch, and picture the following going on. A calliope being played, and her whistle blowing on the Belle Louisville, a Louisville Sluggers game being played, a Reggie concert playing at the Water Tower. Family and friend grilling out Cox Park, laughter at King Fish. The call to the post at Churchill Downs, horses being lined up in the starting gate, the announcer saying they off, horses coming around the home stretch. I see hot air balloons in the air, I hear, and see parades going down Broadway, I hear local bands being played at the Portland Festival. I smell corn dogs, cotton candy, pigs, cows mowing, games being played at the Kentucky State Fair. I see the Diaper Fairy flying, and making deliveries, and picks up. I see the Ford plant making great things. I hear all the high school football team, marching band, dance team, cheerleaders go against they arch rivalry (go EHS!!!). I smell Derby Pie being made, Bourbon being made at Heaven Hill, my Old Kentucky Home being played, and sung at Federal Hill Mansion, I hear ghost at Waverly Hills. I see the Highlands parade. I see the bowlers bowling at Ken Bowls. I smell Kentucky Fried Chicken at the Claudia Sanders restaurant. I hear the all the Kentucky colleges, and universities sports, marching bands being played. Like Judy Garland said in the Wizard of Oz, Theres no place like home, theres no place like home.
