As I get older, I understand the true meaning of having healthy - TopicsExpress

As I get older, I understand the true meaning of having healthy relationships/friendships with people who genuinely care about my well-being and who have my back. It pays to be kind, helpful, and loving to those who help build and support you. I posted on FB this morning about not burning bridges with people. Young people today, don’t realize the importance of establishing healthy relationships with those who have their back. Yes, I have been young before and made stupid decisions; however one thing I have always tried to do is maintain friendships with people who have my best interest at hand, not with those who sugar coat and tell me what I want to hear; just to make me feel good. Yesterday evening, I was so upset; because two months ago I helped out a “friend” with something that would benefit him/her. That person asked how much do I owe you, and I said nothing. However, that person agreed to do a favor for me; something that would probably take 30 minutes to do. Needless to say, every time I approach that person he/she always had an excuse. When that person needed me, I didn’t make excuses to help him/her – I just did it without hesitation because I knew it was important to him/her. With that being said, that person has burnt his/her bridges with me. More so than that, he/she lost a really good friend. Three lessons for you today: Keep your word – it’s golden, Don’t burn bridges, and value genuinely relationships/friendships who have your back. BTW, I thank God for one of my girlfriends who kept it real with me last night – Selena Harris Wright. Thank you! #Imaworkinprogress
